In Memory of James Avilla
June 23, 1933 - December 18, 2012
Obituary:
Jim Avilla, 79, a resident of Roseville, CA for 52 years passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and his cherished dog, Tilly, at his home on December 18, 2012.
Jim was born in Reno NV and as a child grew up in the small town of Spring Garden, CA where he was surrounded by mountains and beautiful springs. As a son of a dairy and cattle rancher. Jim embraced a hard working ethic at an early age that he carried with him all his life.
He worked for A Teichert & Son for 32 years and after retirement, he took on the role of handy man to manage his various properties. He was always busy doing something. One of his passions was to tinker and rebuild "muscle" cars. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin where his dogs would accompany him on long early morning walks in mountainous terrain. He also enjoyed working along side his wife and riding around on his tractor while maintaining their ranch. One of the most important joys of Jim's life was his grandson, Alex. Jim considered himself a lucky man to have had the opportunity to spend so much quality time and to pass on his knowledge of many things with his grandson.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, and two daughters Delisa Barr and Jana Smuin, Son-in-laws, Rick Barr and Mike Smuin, loving grandson, Alex Barr, and a brother, Raymond Avilla, and the late Gloria Wilson.
Family and friends are invited to join together at Reichert's Funeral home, Citrus Heights, on Thursday, 12/27/12, at 11 AM.
Family and friends are invited to gather after the service at Jim's daughter's home (Delisa Barr) to celebrate Jim's life.
in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Placer SPCA or Sutter Care at Home (Hospice).

Gloria Jean Wilson
Obituary
WILSON, Gloria Jean
Our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away alter suffering a heart attack on March 14th. Born December 11, 1936 in Portola, California. Gloria (Glo) graduated from Oroville High School. Gloria is survived by her husband Claude (Bob) of nearly 50 years, her three children, Michael, Nancy and Karen and her grandchildren, Eric, Brent. Valerie and Anthony. She is also survived by son in law, Bill Robinson and daughter in law, Jeanne Wilson, older brother Jim Avilla and his wife Barbara, younger brother Raymond Avilla and his wife Dora. Gloria had a passion for life and never met a stranger, as she had an inquiring mind and made friends easily. Her passion for life lead her to become a pilot, golfer, traveler, avid reader, collector of owls and water globes and sports enthusiast. But her largest passion was the love she had for her family. Numerous family events are now traditions due to Gloria's enthusiasm and dedication to a strong sense of family. Gloria had a great love of the ocean and beaches where she spent a great deal of time reading, relaxing and playing with family. Gloria was proud to have worked for Bank of America for 38 years, retiring as Vice President and Manager. Gloria was committed to making things better for everyone. This deep felt commitment was seen at the workplace where she was a champion of womens rights and ensuring the work environment was one of equality for everyone. She was very proud to be one of the first female managers at Bank of America. Additionally, she was a very active volunteer, primarily for causes that benefited children. Her volunteer activities included sewing at the Sacramento Children's home, served as an Art Docent and site counsel member for Garfield Elementary school and most recently in the Counseling Office at Rio Americano High School. Her efforts went beyond her own contributions as she encouraged and supported many others to embrace the value of volunteering to help others. Gloria's support and love for life will be greatly missed by family, friends and all that have crossed her path in the past 67 years. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday 3/18/04 at 1 pm at Lombard and Company, 1550 Fulton Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
