Marjorie Irene Dwyer was born in Harlem, Montana on December 1, 1920. She grew-up in Turner, Montana, and lived there until her late teens when her family moved west to Los Angeles. Her Montana heritage was reflected in her spirit of independence, resourcefulness, and the positive outlook she always maintained, even during the worst of times. Marjorie married Michael Francis Dwyer. They later divorced and she raised her only child, Michael James Dwyer, in Southern California. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with her brother, Ray Linson and his wife, Glenna, both of whom proceeded her in death. Marjorie worked as a clerk-typist at Los Angeles County hospital for 40 years. Before and after her retirement, she cared for her parents, Clinton B. and Mabel C. Linson until their deaths. Marjorie graduated from college with an A.A. degree in business, held a realtor's license and acted as her own stock broker for many years.
In 1988, she moved to Merced to be near her son and his family---daughter-in-law, Susan, and grandchildren; Noah and Jessalee Dwyer. She maintained a close and loving relationship with her granddaughters; Robin Boule of Montana and Deidra Dwyer of Los Angeles, CA, and visited them, other family and friends on the many trips she made to L.A. In addition, she leaves her nephew, David Linson of Portland, Oregon, and niece, Ardis Nesbit of Southern California. She was an aunt and great-aunt to David's family. Marjorie died on July 9, 2014 at the age of 93 and was spared the loss of her beloved "boy," Michael, who passed away on July 28, 2014. They had a special bond---she was always there for him, and he for her.
Marjorie had many friends during her lifetime. She had a sweet disposition, and was beloved for her humor and goodwill. She was a delight to all who knew her.
In her later years, she spent many hours visiting and traveling to her favorite places and events with her former neighbor and forever friend, Dulie Price. She also cherished her weekly visits and "sing-alongs" with her son's mother-in-law, Jessie Silveria. Marjorie loved to sing, being strongly rooted in the musical heritage of her family, on both her father's and mother's sides. With Jessie, she passed many evenings harmonizing as they remembered and sang songs they both knew from childhood on. Being close in age, they had wonderful times reminiscing about days gone by.
Marjorie is deeply missed but has left everyone she knew a legacy of grace, strength, and love. "Hallmark card" sentiments, the most complimentary and thoughtfully positive, genuinely apply to who she truly was.
Marjorie's memorial service will be held in conjunction with her son's at Gateway Church in Merced, on October 11, 2014 at 1:00. A reception will follow.

In the name of God Amen: I ALEXANDER BRUCE, SEN of Nottoway County being of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, Vidz:
I lend unto my beloved wife Ann Bruce during her life one half the land whereon I now live, including the houses, also the negroes as follows, Tom, Doll, and John, including the household and kitchen furniture with five head of choice horses with all my cattle, sheep & hogs except five head of cattle to my son Woodson Bruce & one feather bead and furniture. One horse & two negroes, named Peter and Isham with the other half of my land, whereon I now live not devised to my wife Ann, to him and his heirs forever.
I give unto my son Alex Bruce the land whereon he now lives, to him and his heirs forever.
The land devised to my beloved wife Ann Bruce I give after her death to my son James Bruce, to him and his heirs forever, with one negro named Jesse.
I give to my daughter Lucy Bruce one negro girle named Silva.
