Services for Lillie Gammage, 98, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Gammage died Friday in a local nursing home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1904, to Charlie M. Howell and Laurie Bennie Glenn Howell.
Mrs. Gammage was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Elkhart. She worked for almost 40 years at Western Auto Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paxton Gammage; and an infant son.
Mrs. Gammage is survived by sister, Bernice Love of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Garth Moran, Joe Chaffin, Cliff Griffith, Ray Griffith, Charles Howell and Misty Howell.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

H. L. Howell, 69, of 201 Inwood Dr., Palestine, died at 4:05 a.m. today in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hassell & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jim Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Elkhart, with members of Elkhart Masonic Lodge No. 400 in charge at the graveside. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until after chapel rites.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Brenton, Doug Sweeten, Doug Sumrall, Milo Pennington, L.E. Reeves and Bert Cade.
Harvey Lee Howell was born March 17, 1906 in Elkhart a son of Charlie Milton Howell and Bennie Glenn Howell. He lived in Elkhart until moving to Palestine 15 years ago. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Palestine, and Elkhart Lodge No. 400 AF&AM. Also, he was affiliated with United Transportation Union Locals 524 & 109. Prior to retiring, he was a brakeman for Missouri Pacific Railroad with 32 years service.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Reba Turner Howell of Palestine; one son, H.L. Howell of Palestine; one grandson, Joel Howell of Salinas, Calif.; four granddaughters Miss Julie Howell of Salinas, Calif., and the Misses Kresten, Tracie and Leslie Howell, all of Palestine; one brother, C.L. Howell of Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Gammage of Elkhart, and Mrs. Thelma Griffith of Gilmer; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ida Hamby of Austin, Mrs. Margie Bunch of Rockwall and Mrs. Bernice Love of Gladewater and a number of nieces and nephews.

C. L. (Monk) Howell, 68, of Elkhart, died Sunday at 5:30 a.m. in a Tyler hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Reese officiating. Burial is to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Elkhart.
Pallbearers will be Richard McCann, Ricky Wilcos, Donald Maddox, William Matthews, Marcus Penland and R. B. Fincher.
A lifelong resident of Elkhart, Mr. Howell was born October 17, 1908 to the late Charlie M. Howell and Mrs. Benjamin (sic) Glenn Howell. He had served in the Army and was a retired concrete construction worker. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Howell of Elkhart; a son, Charles Louis Howell Jr. of San Antonio; Four daughters, Martha Ellen Wilson of Bossier City, La., Lanette Maddox of Irving, Bennye Ruth Bairfield and Karen Sue Wilcox, both of Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Griffith of Gilmer and Mrs. Lillie Gammage of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. Sally Munsell of McDade and three half-sisters, Mrs. Ida Hamby of McDade, Mrs. Bernice Love of Sherman and Margie Bunch of Roundrock.

Mrs. V. M. Howell, 88, of Rt. 2, Elkhart, died today at 5:05 a.m. in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Horace Fletcher and the Rev. Don Shamblin officiating. Burial will be in Garden of memories, Elkhart. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until after Chapel rites.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Howell, the former Mary Exa Wynne, was born in Mansfield, La., on Mar. 14, 1882. Before moving to Elkhart in 1900, she was a resident of the Pleasant Springs community. Her husband, the late Virgil M. Howell, died on May 29, 1968. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elkhart.
Survivors include eight sons, Roy Howell of Elkhart; Travis Howell of Lake Charles, La., Luther, Jack, Eldred, Olen, Herschell and Carson Howell, all of Baytown; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

BAYTOWNServices for Luther D. "Duke' Howell Sr., 83, a native of Elkhart, were May 23 in Baytown. Burial was in Garden of Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mr. Howell, a 60-year-resident of Baytown, died May 21 at a Baytown hospital
He was born on May 13, 1906, in Elkhart. He was retired from the research lab at Exxon Chemical. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Goose Creek Masonic Lodge 1192, Exxon Annuitants and was active for many years with Boy Scouts and Little League.
He was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Goose Creek Chapter 796.
Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his wife, Iola Moore Howell; a son, Luther D. Howell Jr.; and brothers, Roby Howell and Travis Howell.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Howell of Baytown; brother, Jack Howell, Bill Howell, Dixie Howell, Herschell Howell and Carson Howell, all of Baytown; six grandchildren which include Johnny Gordon of Elkhart; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Masons served as pallbearers.

Funeral services for Mrs. A. N. (Aunt Jennie) Glenn, 81, of Rt. 2, Elkhart, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with the Rev. U. Van Sickle and the Rev. Collin Furr officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Elkhart.

Mrs. Glenn was born in Cleburne, on May 19, 1884, and died Friday at 2 p.m. in a local hospital. Resident of Elkhart for the past 68 years, she was a member of the Elkhart Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, Alex N. Glenn of Elkhart; a son, Vernon C. Glenn of San Antonio; their daughters, Mrs. C. D. Fryar Sr., and Mrs. Lee Weatherford, both of Palestine, and Mrs. E. L. Self of San Antonio; a brother, Virgil Howell of Elkhart; a sister, Mrs. Etta Fields of Elkhart; two grandchildren, C. D. Fryar, Jr., of Palestine and Mrs. Ernest Tullos of San Antonio; and four great-grandchildren, Miss Sheila Fryar and David Fryar, both of Palestine, Miss Linda Tullos and Jimmy Tullos, both of San Antonio.
The body will be at Hassell & Foster.

Emmett was the fifth of eight children, born to Marion Jackson Howell and Francis "Fannie" Hames Howell. He was the first of his siblings to be born in Texas. He married Sallie Ann Weatherford 6 July 1902 in Anderson Co, TX. Their daughters, Nora Howell and Ganel Howell Phelps Kyle, are buried in Garden of Memories.

Final rites for Emmett Howell, a lifetime resident of Anderson County, will be held in the First Baptist Church of Elkhart Sunday at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. U. Van Sickles officiating. Burial will be in the Elkhart City Cemetery with the Elkhart Masonic Lodge presiding at the graveside.
Mr. Howell, who had operated a service station in Elkhart for a number of years, died Saturday at 11:30 a.m. following an illness. He was 73.
He was a long time member of the Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Elkhart.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Roy Howell, Luther Howell, Jack Howell, Eldred Howell, Olen Howell, Herschell Howell, Carson Howell, H. L. Howell and C. L. Howell.
Mr. Howell is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ganel Phelps and Miss Nora Howell; a brother, V. M. Howell; and two sisters, Mrs. A. N. Glenn and Mrs. Etta Fields, all from Elkhart.

Etta was the eighth of nine children born to Marion Jackson and Francis "Fannie" Hames Howell. Her parents are also buried in Garden of Memories. She is buried beside her husband, Norton B. Fields.
OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Tuesday, 27 December 1966: RITES WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. FIELDS
Mrs. Etta Fields, 78, died this morning at 2:30 a.m. in the Palestine Nursing Home where she had resided for the past four and a half months.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Bailey Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkhart Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Howell, Herschell Howell, Mildred Howell, Lee Weatherford, James Lanier and Raymond Kyle.
Mrs. Fields was born in Cleburne but had lived in Elkhart most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Her husband, N. B. Fields died March 9, 1951.
She is survived boy one brother, V. M. Howell and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Lee Weatherford and Mrs. C. D. Fryar, both of Palestine.

MRS. DYER DIES ELKHART TUESDAY
Mrs. Dessie Dyer, 54, died Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Elkhart after of an illness of some four weeks.
Services were planned for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Elkhart Baptist Church, with Rev. D. D. Sumrall officiating. Burial was to be in Elkhart cemetery.
Surviving are two sons, James Monroe Walston of Houston and Marion F. Walston of the U.S. Army; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Willard of Palestine and Mrs. G. M. Moore of Elkhart; two brothers, Virge Howell and Emmett Howell, both of Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. A. N. Glenn of Elkhart and Mrs. N. B. Fields of Elkhart; six grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. L. R. (Pink) Howell, 83, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hassell & Foster Chapel. Rev. G. C. Hassell will officiate and burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Howell died following an illness at 2:20 a.m. today in a local nursing home. A native Texan, she was born March 16, 1876, and had lived in the Palestine area for over fourteen years.
Survivors are one son, L. B. Howell of Fort Worth; one daughter, Mrs. D. B. Farnsworth of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Emmett Howell, 73, native of Elkhart, died at 9 a.m. today at her home in Elkhart.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church at Elkhart, with the Rev. U. Van Sickle officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart City Cemetery with nephews acting as pallbearers.
Mrs. Howell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ganel Phelps and Miss Nora Howell, Both of Elkhart; and two brothers, Bennie Weatherford of Elkhart, and Albert S. Weatherford of Houston.

Services for Ganel Kyle, 90, of Houston, and formerly of Elkhart, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Petersen officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kyle died Monday at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston.
She was born in Elkhart on May 16, 1903, to Willie Emmitt and Sallie Ann Weatherford Howell. She was a clerk for Sears and a member of First Baptist Church in Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Phelps, on Nov. 8, 1942.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Kyle of Houston; stepdaughter, Jean McWhirter of Houston; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ELKHART RITES FOR MISS NORA HOWELL
Funeral services are being held in Elkhart at 3 p.m. today for Miss Nora Howell, 57, native of Elkhart, who died early Sunday morning in Austin after a lingering illness. She had lived all her life in Elkhart prior to her illness.
Officiating are the Rev. R. B. Pinckney of Florence and the Rev. Charles Crim of Elkhart. After the service, burial will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery at Elkhart.
Pallbearers are Joe Bailey Parker, Homer Jenkins, Truitt Kennedy, Allie Kennedy, Taylor Martin and Lee Weatherford.
Miss Howell is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ganel Phelps of Houston, and several relatives.

Mr. Kyle died this morning in a Houston nursing home.
He was born Oct. 26, 1900, in Anderson County, to James Matthew and Laura Little Kyle.
Mr. Kyle was a longtime resident of Elkhart and a graduate of Elkhart High School. He was a former and maintained the Garden of Memories Cemetery after retiring.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ganell Phelps Kyle.
He is survived by a daughter, Jean Kyle McWhirter of Houston; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
