Services for Bennie Bairfield, 54, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Huntress officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mrs. Bairfield died Monday at Memorial Mother Frances Hospital in Palestine.
She was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Elkhart, to Charles Louis Howell Sr. and Mary McCann Howell.
Mrs. Bairfield was a graduate of Elkhart High School and received her associate degree from Tyler Junior College. She also attended the Texas School of Nursing.
She is survived by her sisters, Martha (Howell) Wilson of Noonday, Lanette (Howell) Maddox of Palestine and Karen (Howell) Fregia of Houston; and a brother, Charles Louis Howell, Jr of Mansfield.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Senior Health Care Center and Dogwood Trails Advanced Health Care Center.

Clyde passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Tyler, TX.
He was born July 8, 1943 in Palestine, Texas to Clyde and Annie Lou Martin Bairfield. He married Vicki Gage on July 4, 1974 in Athens, TX. Clyde worked as an oilfield consultant and had lived in this area for 37 years after moving from Palestine, TX. He loved restoring old cars, attending car shows and spending time with his grandson Jeremy Fields. Clyde was a Mason and a member of the Willow Springs Baptist Church in Athens.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Leland, Anthony and Amos Bairfield.
He is survived by his wife Vicki Bairfield of Athens; children Justin Tew and wife Deanna of The Woodlands, Tammy Darling and husband Jeff of Spring, Clyde Jr. and wife Kay of Athens, Brittney Abbott and husband Randy of Athens; brother Keith Bairfield of Tennessee Colony, sisters Ann Taylor of Sierra Vista, AZ, Shirley Kruszewski of Sierra Vista, AZ, Patricia Jones of The Woodlands, and Gayle Calcote of Palestine; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Also a host of friends and his Church family.

Phil Badillo, 66, of Baytown, TX was born August 13, 1943 in Andalusia, AL and passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 in a local hospital. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a retired Baytown Police Department Sergeant with 38 years of service. He had a passion for service and at the time of his retirement on January 30, 2007, he was the Baytown Police Department Training Coordinator.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Merle Badillo and is survived by his wife, Carol Howell Badillo of Baytown; father, Joe Badillo and wife, Myra of Saraland, AL; sisters and brother-in-law, Connie McCormick of Smyrna, GA and Sue and Charles Prall of Saraland, AL; brother, Jody Badillo of Marietta, GA; father-in-law, E. H. "Bill" Howell of Baytown; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Howell Allen of Baytown and Barbara and Collins Steward of Katy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Turner and Rev. Mike Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert P. "Bob" Merchant, Jim Mortensen, Greg Garrett, Sgt. Chris Goss, Sgt. Pam Erikson and Cpl. Bill Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. C. A. Riser, Jack Lindsey, Clint Johnson, Clarence Eldridge, Raymond Zycha and Frank Lambrecht.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reba Howell, 61, of 201 Inwood Drive, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Hassell & Foster Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Leediker officiating.
Member of Palestine Chapter No. 396 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a chapel service and burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.
Mrs. Howell died Monday in her home after a sudden illness.
She was born March 15, 1920, in Grapeland, a daughter of Grady Turner and Lula Davis Turner. She had lived in Elkhart before moving to Palestine 23 years ago. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Palestine Chapter No. 395 Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband, a long time Missouri Pacific Railroad brakeman, died Dec. 16, 1975.
Survivors include a son, H. L. Howell of Palestine; a brother, Winston Turner of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. W. T. (Ludie) Walston of Palestine and Mrs. Howard (Lorraine) Hughes of Garland, and five grandchildren.
Condolence calls may be made at the H. L. Howell residence, Longhorn Drive.

RITES TODAY FOR JOHN W. McCANN
Funeral services for John William McCann, 75, were held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Bailey Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Reese officiating. Burial followed in the Elkhart Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. McCann, formerly in the lumber business at Elkhart before retirement, died Saturday at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.
Survivors are four sons, J. C. McCann of Houston, W. A. McCann of New Orleans, Louisiana and E. G. McCann of Houston; two daughter, Mrs. C. L. Howell of Elkhart and Mrs. H. B. Dodge Jr., of Houston; 26 grandchildren; two half-sisters, Mrs. Myrlie Walston and Mrs. Cora Bozeman, Both of Elkhart, one half-brother, Frank McCann of Elkhart; and one brother, Bart McCann of Houston.
Pallbearers were John McCann, Jr., Charles Howell Jr., Willard ward, Quinn McCann, Arnold McCann and Uriah Bell. Honorary pallbearers will by Alvin G. McCann, Richard C. McCann Jr. and Timothy Dodge.

MRS. McCANN DIES IN HOUSTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie McCann, a former resident of Palestine, will be held in the Hassell and Foster Chapel here at 3 p.m. Monday with the Rev. John Fench of Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkhart Cemetery.
Mrs. McCann died in a Houston hospital Saturday following an illness. She was 63.
Mrs. McCann, who was making her home at 5713 Lauder street in Houston at the time of her death, was born in Anderson County on September 8, 1893, and had lived in Palestine several years.
She is survived by her husband, John W. McCann of Houston; four sons, Carlton McCann, Arlie McCann, Richard McCann and Elzy McCann, all of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Howell of Elkhart and Mrs. H. B. (Nonie) Dodge, Jr., of Houston; four brothers, Albert and Ira Camp, both of Palestine, and Joe and Tom Camp, both of Elkhart; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Walston of Houston, Mrs. Mary Barton of Fort Worth, and Mrs. Georgia Shaid and Miss Lucy Camp, both of Palestine; and a number of grandchildren.

Grady was the son of James and Texanna Elliott Turner. He died 21 April 1963. He is buried beside his wife, Lula Temple McClinton Turner, who he married 3 May 1913 in Houston County. Their daughters, Reba Loye Turner Howell and Elsie Turner Parker, and son-in-law, Wilbur Truitt Walston, are also buried in Garden of Memories.

SERVICES PENDING FOR GRADY TURNER
Funeral services for Grady turner, 72, of 823 Magnolia Drive, Garland, former Palestine and Houston County resident, were pending today.
The rites will be held at Hassell & Foster Chapel with Rev. Tom Bridges and Rev. Argne(?) officiating. Ross Bryant will sing. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.
Pallbearers will be Bob Henderson, Bill Gilbreath, Vernon Lemley, Paxton Gammage, H. L. Howell and Benton Knott.
Native of Houston County, Mr. Turner was born June 11, 1890. He was a member of the El Bethel Baptist Church in Garland. Former Knox Glass employee, he died Sunday at 8 a.m. in a Garland hospital following a short illness.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lula Turner of Garland; a son, Major Winston Turner, with the Army in Germany; four daughters, Mrs. W. T. (Ludie) Walston and Mrs. H. L. (Reba) Howell, both of Palestine, Mrs. C. W. (Lorene) Greenwood of Garland and Mrs. S. B. (Elsie) Parker of Houston, step-mother of Crocket; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Turner of Trinity and Lewis Turner of Grapeland; five half-brothers; a half-sister, Mrs. Will Lackey of Crockett; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will be at Hassell & Foster.
