DOUGLAS - Funeral services for John James "Jim" Butler, 68, will be held 2 p.m., tomorrow, July 23, 2007, at the McKibben Cafeteria at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas with Gary Stearns officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery with Samular Mares, American Legion Post #8 according military honors.
A resident of Douglas, he died July 17, 2007 at the Hospice of Wichita Falls in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was born August 2, 1938 in Bryson, Texas, the son of Chester and Anna Mae (Petit) Butler. He was raised and educated across the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Kansas. He graduated from high school in Durant, Oklahoma.
He served in the US. Army from Sept. 21, 1961 to Sept. 20, 1963, with the BRAT (Beach Reconnaissance Amphibious Team) division.
He worked for Phillips Petroleum for 23 years, starting at age 18 and retiring in 1988. During his career he began as a roughneck, then an instrument and measurement supervisor. He worked seven and a half years in the North Seas.
He loved hunting, fishing, rodeoing, golfing, and shooting the "bull." He was a good and faithful friend to many, especially his dog, Tater. He was involved with the Knight of the Silver Spruce, Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8, Douglas Moose Lodge #602 and was a guide for Helluva Hunt for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Sharon Christine Butler; two daughters, Kellie Mettler and her husband of Bakersfield, Calif., Jaycee Taylor and her husband of Pinedale; one son, J.J. Butler of Pinedale; three step daughters, Wanda Myers of Lebanon, Okla., and Kim Perry of Casper; one sister, Patsy Horn and her husband of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Rick Butler of Wichita Falls, Texas and Tom Butler and his wife of Goodland, Kan.; four grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to Helluva Hunt, 1562 Esterbrook Road, Douglas.

Lee Roy Horn, age 92, of Wichita Falls (formally of Vernon, Texas), passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in the East View Memorial Cemetery on the East side of Vernon, Texas.
Roy, as he preferred being called, was born July 29, 1917, in Paris, Texas. He was the youngest of 8 children. After leaving home at an early age, he worked in the Hereford, Texas, area in the farming business, then joined the CCC and worked in the Flagstaff, Ariz., area. After the depression, he returned to Childress, Texas, and worked in road construction, and then for the railroad. In 1939, Roy married Cecil Priest in Childress, Texas. He was drafted in December, 1942, and was trained as an equipment operator with the US Army Engineer Corps at Fort Belvoir, Va., and served in Germany until the end of WWII. After being discharged from the service as a Master Sergeant, he worked again for the Railroad in Childress, Texas, as a lineman. Roy and his family moved to Vernon, Texas, in 1949 where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. In 1957, he started work at the W. T. Waggoner Ranch as a mechanic and worked there until retirement. After his wifes passing in July 2000, Roy moved to Wichita Falls, Texas to be near his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the Red Door in Wichita Falls for eight years and hated when he had to miss a day. He spent the last 15 months at the Sterling House Senior Living center in Wichita Falls where he made many friends. His hobbies were raising a garden and fishing.
Roy is survived by his son, Roy Anderson Horn and wife Patsy; his grandsons, Russell Horn, and Mike and wife Melissa Horn, all of Wichita Falls. He has two great-granddaughters, Jade and Mackenzie Horn; and one great-grandson, Michael Horn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecil of 61 years; five sisters; and two brothers.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home of Vernon, Texas. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, P.O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308.

Jewel C. Chambers, 85, of Marlow died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in Grady
County Memorial Hospital in Chickasha.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home
Chapel in Marlow with the Rev. Tony Nichols, Bobby Nichols and the Rev.
Ron Howard officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at Marie and Wayne Nichols home, 602
N. Railroad, in Marlow.
Jewel C. was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Archer City, Texas, to Thomas Roger
and Martha Petit Patterson.
She married O.H. Jack Grice in 1937. She later married Charley Chambers
in 1967, in Marlow, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1994.
Mrs. Chambers lived most of her life in Marlow. She worked for Taylors as
a cook for several years. She enjoyed embroidery, watching humming birds
and visiting people she knew. She was a hard worker and enjoyed making
fresh apple cake and giving them to people she knew. She enjoyed flowers
and plants. She loved her family. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Gospel
Tabernacle Church on Marlow.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Wayne Nichols of
Marlow; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Carla Patterson of
Fairview, John J.C. and Lawanda Patterson of Marlow, and J.R. and Bobbie
Patterson of Duncan; four sisters, Nomie Largent of Lindsay, Christine
Whybark and Tommie Weyrick, both of Rush Springs, and Margaret Elam of
Marlow; two step-daughters Genovia Lubbers and her husband, Bill, of
Dallas, Texas, and Wanda Wilkins of Moore; a sister-in-law, Linda
Patterson of Marlow; five grandchildren, Bobby Nichols and his wife, Beth,
and Janice Green and her husband, Mike, all of Duncan, Tony Nichols and
his wife, Stefani, of Marlow, Diana Bates and her husband, Brad, and
Barbara Cole and her husband, Ron, all of Chickasha; and ten great-
grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, O. H.
( Jack ) Grice; a brother, Rodger Coy; a daughter, Josephine Grice Robnett;
and four brothers-in-law, Bert Largent, Nevlin Whybark, Cotton Weyrick and
Jack Elam.

Nomie D. (Patterson) Largent, age 88, of Lindsay, OK, was born on January 22, 1920, in Archer City, TX. She was the daughter of Thomas Rodger and Martha Lucsindy Catherine (Pettit) Patterson. She left this life on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Harrah, OK.
Nomie attended Center Grove, Velma and Doyle schools where she enjoyed playing basketball. She married Bert Largent on April 15, 1939 in Duncan, OK, and they were married 63 years before he went to be with the Lord. Nomie was a homemaker and a member of the Lindsay-Erin Springs Church of God. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and cooking. She loved to read her Bible and listen to gospel and country & western music.
Nomie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert Largent; brother, Roger Coy Patterson; sisters, Jewel Chambers and Tommie Weyrick and granddaughter, Lori (Largent) Parsons.
Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Gina Largent, Choctaw, OK; 2 daughters & 1 son-in-law, Mary Helen & Wayne Robnett, Chickasha, OK, Robbie Stanley, Norman, OK; 3 brothers & sisters-in-law, Roy & Carla Patterson, Longdale, OK, John & Lawanda Patterson, Marlow, OK, J.R. & Bobbie Patterson, Marlow, OK; 2 sisters, Christine Whybark, Rush Springs, OK, Margaret Elam, Marlow, OK; 6 grandchildren & spouses, Cody & Averi Largent, Bryon & Amanda Robnett, Diane & Brad Bates, Barbara & Ron Cole, Nathan Largent, Evan & Amy Stanley; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; her precious cat, "Baby" and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bert Largent, age 82, of Lindsay, OK passed away on June 9, 2002 in Norman, OK. He was born on Jan. 8, 1920 in Purdy, OK to Francis (Bud) Largent and Beulah (Roberson) Largent. Bert lived in Lindsay all his life. He was married to Nomie (Patterson) on April 15, 1939 of this union they had three children, son, Jimmy Largent and wife, Gina of Choctaw, OK; daughter, Mary Helen Robinett and husband, Wayne of Chickasha, OK; daughter Robbie Stanley of Oklahoma City. Grandsons, Nathan Largent, Bryon Robinett, Evan Stanley, Cody Largent. Granddaughters, Diana Bates, Barbara Cole, Lori Parsons; and nine great grandchildren. His brothers and sister are H. G. (Monk) Largent, Alton Largent and Jessie Canada. And many nieces and nephews, relatives and wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Hunt.
Bert proudly served in the United States Army in the 30th Infantry Division during World War II. He survived the Battle of the Bulge. He worked in the oilfield until his health failed. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He hardly ever missed going squirrel hunting with his son on opening day, May 15th each year. They always had a standing appointment. He loved to listen to country and gospel music.
Funeral services will be at the Erin Springs Church of God on June 12, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dale Chamber and Rev. Rocky Keck conducting the service. Burial will be in Purdy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Largent, Roy Dale Patterson, Monte Patterson, Garland Patterson and Scott Largent There will be Military Honors by the American Legion Post # 23.

TOMMIE ANNE WEYRICK, 77, Rush Springs, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, in Longview, Texas. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Tommie was born Sunday, Sept. 14, 1930, in Foster, to Thomas Rodger and Martha Pettit Patterson. She graduated from Bursai School. Tommie lived in Stephens County most of her life. She married M.L. "Cotton" Weyrick on Feb. 17, 1971, in Anadarko. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1994.
Tommie loved to cut hair and she enjoyed cooking. She was very good at gardening and canning vegetables. She also enjoyed being around people. Tommie was a member of Vimy Ridge Baptist Church, east of Rush Springs.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Bellew and husband Clifford of Diana, Texas; three grandchildren, Tamara Bellew, Trudy Bellew, Jody and Sheryl Bellew; three great-grandchildren, Travis Bellew, August McBride, Rensi Bellew; three brothers, Roy Patterson and wife Carla of Longdale, John Patterson and wife Lawanda of Bray, J.R. Patterson and wife Bobbie of Duncan; three sisters, Christine Whybark of Rush Springs, Nomie Largent of Erin Springs, Margrett Elam of Marlow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Coy Patterson; and a sister, Jewel Chambers.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in the Southern Baptist Church of Rush Springs with the Rev. Kenneth Romines officiating. Burail was in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Born Dec. 10 1932, in Eldorado, to John and Hattie (Wilcox) Weyrick, he had lived in Rush Springs for 56 years and was a retired farmer. He attended schools at Duke and Rush Springs and was a member of the Baptist Church.
Weyrick and the former Tommie Patterson were married on Feb. 17, 1971 in Anadarko.
Survivors in addition to his wife of the home include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Clifford Bellew of Longview, Tx.; a brother, Bill Weyrick of Rush Springs; seven sisters, Daisy Stewart of Wilburton, Anna Mae Largent of Chickasha, Elsie Brooks of Athens Tx. Arnetta Pritchard of Carnegie, Dorthy Wisley of Duncan and Mary Davis and Jean Funk, both of Rush Springs; three granddaughters, Tamara Bellew and Trudy Bellew, both of Longview, and Lynn Patterson of Altus and a great-grandson.
Serving as pallbears were Keith Mansfield, Kenneth Maxwell, Kenny Maxwell, Wayne White, Jimmy Williams and Michael White. Honorary bearers included Steve Jones, Gene Bratcher, Steve White, David Maxwell, Fred Ferguson and Jerry Bewley. (bio by: Bernie)
