Biddy Jean Shewmake McMurry, 83 of Mineral Wells, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Katy, Texas. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the South Side Church of Christ, William Eudy officiating. Burial will be in the Graford Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
She was born May 16, 1927, in Cisco, the daughter of Biddy Lafayette and Lera Onita Williams Erwin. She attended Abilene Christian College. She married Claudine Shewmake in 1946 and made her home in Possum Kingdom and later Mineral Wells. She worked for Goodyear Tire Store for more than 30 years and retired in 1989.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Claudia Jean Shewmake, and her husband of 39 years, Claudine Cotton Shewmake. She is also preceded by her husband William Guy McMurry.
Biddy Jean is survived by her son, Phillip Shewmake and wife Dorothy; her grandchildren, Virginia Hilker Shewmake and Stephen Phillip Shewmake; sister, Patsy Harvey and husband, Buck; brother, Bobby Ray Erwin and wife, Wynell; many dear nieces, nephews and friends

Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Humane Society. She was born on June 13, 1953, in Fort Worth to Bill and Jo Bryson. Linda was the oldest of two children. She married Dennis in Prosper on July 12, 1985. They have one child. She attended Eastern Hills High School and graduated in 1971. She was a resident of Prosper for 25 years. She was most recently the owner of Star Specialty Contempo on the historic downtown McKinney square. Linda was a member of Handley Baptist Church. She enjoyed friends, family, all outdoor activities, her home decor and art gallery in downtown McKinney. Survivors: Linda will be remembered by her loving husband, Dennis Gentry; son, Jeff Harrison and wife, Janna; grandchildren, Dylan, Kevin, Rebecca Harrison and Melanie Bishop; great-granddaughter, Kylee; sister, Cindy Smith and husband, Bill; many nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Imogene Gentry.
