"Epson Parker started farming in Victor Twp. Clinto Co. Mich. on Section 1 and 16. He had a yoke and one cow, no wagon, but a long sled made of poles. When he was a young man, he used to hunt. Getting quit a few deer. One time he killed a bear. He had to go home and get the oxen, hitched her to the sled and with the help of his uncle Bill, went to get the bear. He use to trap the near by creeks. After getting married, he stopped hunting. He would cut his own timber, had it sawed and build his own home in the fall of 1858. Just before he got married. Epson made his first horse drawn rake. He took a 4x4, 8 feet long, put holes about 8 inches apart, then putting 16 inches pins through the holes. He then put Two holes and placed long sticks for handles, hitching it to the horse. Then the rake was full, he stopped the horse, bump the hay by lifting it over the win row. Then go on for another load. He used this rake until 1871, when he bought a rake with wheels. He got his first pair of horses in 1863. Raised a pair of mules in 1866 and put them to work in 1864, they were only 2 1/2 years old. In 1870 he bought another 40 acres of land, making a total of 240 acres. He was a very ambitious man, in 1872 he built a big home on Section 16. In May 1910 he committed suicide, wound a sheet around his neck, fastening the ends together. Then by using a cane and twisting it tight enough to produce strangulation. He was 74 years old. " Information from RD Parker.

Sarah (Tucker) Parker. Born in NJ, her parents were Samuel & Patty Tucker, they came form Holland.
On Jan. 27, 1794 Sarah Married Jonathan Parker in Union, Sommerset County N.J. They moved to Romulus, Seneca Co; NY with his family, where Jonathan Parker died in 1817.
Jonathan, born 29 Oct 1770 in Sommerset County, NJ and died 14 Apr 1817 in Romulus, seneca County, NY. He worked as a carpenter. Jonathan's parents were Jude and Patience Parker and they died in Sommerset County, NJ. They had Five children: Jonathan, Mary, Sarah, Samuel and David.
In 1837 her son John moved her and his Family to Victor Township, Clinton County Michigan in 1837. They settling on 80 acre farm in Victor Twp; Clinton Co, MI. Later the road they lived on was Parker Road.
She was the first death in the Township followed shortly by her daughter Martha and they were buried on John Parkers farm. D.D. Cotes dug the grave and D.H. Blood delivered a prayer as the only funeral service, a minister being not readily obtainable. (Page 510, from A.I. Parker papers.

John Dalzell Kruger, aged 92, of Muir, passed away Nov. 4, 2008.
He was born April 8, 1916, the son of Francis Rudolph and Inez (Dalzell) Kruger. He married Pearl Audrey Halstead Kemp Dec. 27, 1975. John married late in life as he was 59 years old when he married Pearl.
John farmed on his parent's farm with his dad. He lived here all of his 92 years of life, located north of Muir on Hayes Rd. He also worked with his brother Knight farming in Muir. He retired from Chrysler in 1979, and retired from farming in his eighties. He did everything on the farm including welding and fixing machinery. John was the jack of all trades. John loved camping, country music and Lawrence Welk.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Pearl (Kemp) Kruger of Ionia; children Ronald (Susie) Kemp of Grand Ledge, Duane (Kathy) Kemp of Grand Ledge, Barbara (Al)Trepczyk of Wisconsin, Edwin (Priscilla) Kemp of Bellvue, James (Tawney) Kemp of North Carolina and Steven (Sheila) Kemp of Grand Ledge; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews; 1 very special niece Linda Pigue and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday 4-7 and Thursday 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte.
