Elvis Glenn "Jr." Shults, 74, passed away December 17, 2008 at his home in Abilene, Texas after a brief illness.
A private memorial service is scheduled for a later date under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St.
Elvis was born to Curtis Clyde and Ida Cinderella (Foller) Shults on February 11, 1934 in Stanton, Texas. He attended Wylie Schools and served in the U.S. Army 111th Infantry Division beginning September 14, 1956 achieving a medal of honor for weapons division. He was honorably discharged in 1962. Prior to his military service, he was employed by Mrs. Baird's Bakery, upon his return from military , he resumed this employment, earning the status of the only employee to ever achieve 50 + years with the Bakery.
He married Annie Lou Erwin in November 1959. She preceded him in death July 1, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William "Bill", A.B."Hoot" and Curtis Shults and his sisters, Lois Crawford and Viola Welch.
Elvis was an avid hunter and bird collector. He was known for his "homing pigeons" and their travels.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Galindo and son-in-law, Rick, of Folkston, Georgia; two granddaughters, Jessica Bejar and Monica Galindo of Havlock, North Carolina; one grandson, Rick Galindo, Jr. of Lewisville; special life long friends, James McKelvain and Julie Davis and many nieces and nephews.

Vern Glenn was born October 14, 1937 in Murrayville, Georgia to Melvin Glenn and Mamie Wiley Glenn. He lived in Murrayville, attending the Murrayville School in Murrayville, Georgia; and Sardis High School in Gainesville, Georgia, until he joined the United States Air Force in 1954. He was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas in 1959 when he met and married the love of his life, Bobbie Erwin of Rising Star Texas. They lived all over the world during his 23 years of service to his country, including Tampa Bay, Florida; Mountain Home, Idaho; Denver, Colorado; and Okinawa, Japan; before his final duty station of McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California, where they made their home for 32 years. Upon retiring from active duty, Mr. Glenn worked civil service for the United States Air Force at McClellan Air Force Base, until retirement from civil service in 1998.
Upon their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn returned to Texas, settling first in May, Texas in 1999, and then in Clyde, Texas in 2006. Mr. Glenn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde and the Whosoever Will class. He spent the last four years organizing Care Packages for the Troops, sending 573 boxes during this time and participated in numerous mission projects. He was a Master Mason at Clyde Lodge 1056 and a member of Gideons International. Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Burt, Hoyt, Walter, Barry and George; and two sisters, Zora Pierce and Lilly Gilstrap.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Erwin Glenn of Clyde, Texas; daughters Cheryl Robinson and husband Stan of Sacramento, California, Cristy Milano and husband Steve of Sacramento, California and Julie Pitvorec and husband Paul of Hamilton, Virginia. Eleven grandchildren: Dale Wheeler and wife, Tina of Grand Prairie, Texas; Steven Peterson of Sacramento, California; Melissa Courtney and husband Casey of Coarse Gold, California; Dawn Peterson of San Jose, California; Deanna Wheeler of California City, California; Chelsea Pitvorec of Athens, Ohio; Brent McCaleb of Sacramento, California; Sydney, Dillon, Darryn, Caitlyn and Matthew Pitvorec, formerly of Clyde, Texas, currently residing in Hamilton, Virginia; five great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the Whosoever Will Class and the entire First Baptist Church of Clyde congregation and Pastor Toby Henson. We never could have made it through this without the love and support of our wonderful church family.

RISING STAR Sadie Erwin, 88, of Rising Star, Texas died Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Rising Star Nursing Center in Rising Star, Texas,
Sadie was born on December 15, 1917 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Jeff and Effie Mae Cox Gales. She married Oscar Willett on December 3, 1935 in Rising Star, Texas. They shared 20 years of marriage till Oscar passed away on October 16, 1956. She married Jerl Erwin on August 6, 1960. They enjoyed 23 wonderful years together before Jerl passed away on September 22, 1983. She was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother.
Sadie is survived by her daughter, lna Mae and her husband, Jackie Brown of May; son, Kenneth Willett and his wife, Vondean of Rising Star; honorary son, Mike Hardwick of Rising Star; 2 sisters, Ethel Foy of Whitesettlement, and Thelma Gilliland of Rising Star; 7 step-children; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; 19 step-grandchildren; numerous step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her 2 husbands, one brother, one sister; 3 step-children and one step-grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:0O p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Williams officiating. Burial will be in the May Cemetery in May, Texas with Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star in Charge.
The family has set a visitation time for Saturday, June 24, 2006 from 6:00 8:OO p.m. at Higginbothaan Funeral Home, 803 North Main Street, Rising Star, Texas.
