BRYANT, HARLEY WAYNE, born in Houston on March 4, 1933. Harley passed away at his home on Sunday, January 4, 2004, after a brief battle with cancer. On February 19, 1953, he married his best friend and high school sweetheart Shirley (Prather) Bryant. He was drafted the day after his wedding and spent the next two years serving in the United States Army. Following the army, Harley and Shirley moved to Houston where he graduated from the University of Houston. Dallas was their home so they returned after college and stayed in the Dallas area, living in Duncanville since 1976. Harley and Shirley were married 47 years until Shirley's death in November 2000. Harley was a devoted family man, a tireless friend and a true blessing to all who knew him. His life-long examples of love, generosity and kindness are the legacy he leaves us all. For many years Harley served as a deacon at First Baptist Church Oak Cliff. In his later years, Harley gave of himself and his time as an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Harley Bryant is survived by his daughter, Allison Duke, and son-in-law Brett Duke of Duncanville, and daughter Angela Herwald and son-in-law Mark Herwald of Midlothian. He was the worlds best Papa to grandchildren, Clint and Cale Duke and Madeline and Andrew Herwald. He is also survived by two sisters, Janis Wenger of South Laguna Beach, California, and Judy Coleman of Garland and one brother, Randy Bryant of Rowlett. Harley's daughters would like to thank Judy Norton for filling their Dad's last years with love and laughter - we love you. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 265 W. Pleasant Run Rd., Cedar Hill, TX 75104, interment will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Comanche - JAY W. FINNELL, 79, of Comanche, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Meridian Nursing Home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Prairie Hill Church of Christ, north of Comanche, with Scott Hoover and Mario Pineda officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Nocona, Texas, to Harvey Hawkins and Martha Throneberry Finnell. He grew up in Comanche and attended Oak College School, west of Comanche.
Jay married Virginia Shelby on Sept. 3, 1983, in Comanche. He was retired from the oil field. He was a member of Prairie Hill Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Finnell of the home; four daughters, Brenda Davis of Nashville, Tenn., Wendy Magnam and husband Jeff of Marlow, Kathy DeYoung of Portland, Maine, and Karla Finnell of Lawrence, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Beverly Clark and husband Jimmie of Comanche; a stepson, Tommy Jo Gilmore and wife Juann of Tivoli, Texas; a stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Gilmore of Bossier City, La.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, AnnaLisa Clark; three brothers, Virgil, Erwin and Lloyd Finnell; and a sister, Lola May Finnell.

COMANCHE Virginia Juanita Shelby Gilmore Finnell went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2010 at the age of 77. She passed away at Comanche County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Prairie Hill Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche under the direction of the Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be today until 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Virginia was born on December 10, 1932 in Comanche to Noah and Ethel Shelby. She married Buster "JR" Gilmore on Aug. 26, 1947, in Henrietta, Texas. They had 36 wonderful years together before he passed away on May 7, 1983. Virginia and Buster had four children: Tommy Jo Gilmore, Bobby Wayne Gilmore, Ricky Dale Gilmore and Beverly June Gilmore Clark, along with 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends.
Virginia married Jay Finnell on Sept. 3, 1983. They had 24 years together before he passed away on July 5, 2007.
Virginia was a seamstress all her life. She owned and operated Virginia's Sewing Shop for 26 years in Comanche. Her favorite things in life were her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Church of Christ in Meridian.
Virginia is survived by one son, Tommy Joe Gilmore and wife JuAnn of Tivoli, TX; one daughter, Beverly June Gilmore Clark and husband Jimmy of Comanche; a daughter-in-law, Linda Gilmore, Bossier City La.; one brother, Burl Shelby and wife Doris of Comanche; two sisters, Vinita Vails of Comanche and Katherine Anderson of Comanche; one sister-in-law Sue Shelby, Comanche; and four step-daughters, Brenda Davis, Kathy Finnell, Karla Finnell and Wendy Mangus. Also, four grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by two sons: Bobby Wayne Gilmore and Ricky Dale Gilmore; one granddaughter, Anna Lisa Clark; one sister, Maxine Wright; and one brother J.W. "Bud" Shelby.
Pall Bearers will be Greg Clark, Danny Ray Anderson, Larry Wood, Brett Piper, Joe Ledford and Jerry Benson.

Melvin Jones, 86, of Haworth, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Idabel.
He was born Sept. 28, 1910, in DeKalb, Texas.
A retired log and sawmill worker, Jones was affiliated with the Haworth Assembly of God Church He married Ethel Throneberry on Dec. 24, 1933, in Fox, and had lived in the community most of his life, moving from Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ethel Jones of the home; three sons, Kenneth Jones of Idabel, Lonnie Jones of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Howard Jones of Haworth; four daughters, Wanda Delno and Betty Winer, both of Haworth, Shirley Winer of Gillham, Ark., and Patsy Oliver of Milwaukie, Ore.; one sister, Stella Hudgins of Haworth; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Haworth Assembly of God Church with Jerry Capps officiating. Burial will follow at Pollard Cemetery in Pollard.

Larry Don Hall, LCDR, USN (Ret.), age 59, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on September 1, 1950, in Midland, Texas to R. V. and Charlotte Vincent Hall. He was preceded in death by his father R. V. Hall in 1979, Larry graduated from Lee High School in Midland, Texas in 1968, where he was a champion swimmer. He graduated from Texas A&M University (College Station) in 1972 with a Bachelors of Business Administration and was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets. After college Larry served in the United States Marine Corps, as a tactical jet pilot, seeing action in Vietnam. Subsequently he transferred to the United States Navy, again as a tactical jet pilot, seeing in multiple offensives, including Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. His military service as a Tactical Jet Pilot spanned 23 years from 1971 until his retirement in 1994.
While in the military, Larry received many decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. They included Distinguished Flying Cross with combat "V"; the Meritorious Unit Commendation (3 Awards); Air Medal (Second Strike/Flight Award), Southwest Asia Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars; National Defense Service Medal (2 awards); Kuwait Liberation Medal; Navy Unit Commendation (3 Awards); Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4 Awards); Navy "E" Award; Navy Achievement Medal; Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V"; Rifle Expert Marksman Badge (5 Awards); Pistol Expert Marksman Badge (9 Awards); Good Conduct Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal.
Following his retirement Larry joined his wife in her real estate practice, Andrea Hall & Associates Keller Williams, and earned the prestigious Graduate Realtor Institute designation.
True to his military life, Larry maintained Life Memberships in the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans Association, and Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans of America and the Military Officers Association. He was an active member of the San Antonio A&M Club and the Texas A&M Former Students Association.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Andrea Thomasson Hall; mother, Charlotte Vincent Hall of Midland; maternal aunt Connie Staton of Midland; niece, Leslie Kitto, husband Kyle, and their children, Kayleigh and Kevin of Midland, TX; niece Bonnie Bevens & husband, David of Conroe, TX; nephew, Clay Latuda of Midland, TX; nephew Kreg Kitto, his daughter Krysten of Midland and his son PFC Kody Flournoy, USMC, currently on active duty in Japan; and his sister-in-law Karen Daniel Kitto of Midland..

Andrea Lavonne Thomasson Hall 62 of San Antonio joined her family in heaven on Thursday September 06, 2012. She died of a sudden brain aneurysm. She died in the San Antonio Military Medical Center where she was taken following a sudden brain aneurysm.
Andrea's husband, Lt. Commander Larry D Hall and her parents John and Geneva Thomasson preceded her in death.
Her mother-in-law Charlotte Hall of Midland and many cousins & friends survive her.
Andrea received her real estate license in 1982. She was with Keller Williams Real Estate in San Antonio at the time of her death. She had just received her Brokers License earlier this year. She was born February 09, 1950 in Amherst, Texas. She was raised in and graduated from Sudan, Texas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Nalley Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland, Texas Saturday the 13th of October 2012 at 1:00 PM graveside service to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
She had such a kind and dear heart.
