GRANBURY -- Lydia O. Stinnett, 83, a retired school cafeteria cook, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, at a Granbury hospital.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Granbury. Burial: Granbury Cemetery in Granbury. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Lydia Stinnett was born Oct. 22, 1913, in Morgan Mill, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Don Stinnett, on March 26, 1960.
Survivors: Daughters and sons-in-law, June and Jimmy Jones of Edgewood and Linda and Gene Whitley of Granbury; brothers, Homer Rasberry, Andrew Rasberry and Carl Rasberry, all of Morgan Mill; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several niece and nephews.

JAMES CLARENCE "BOBER" STINNETT
James Stinnett, 88, died October 19, 2001 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 3 pm. Monday, October 22, 2001 at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Stinnett was born February 16, 1913 in Bluff Dale, Texas to Wiley and Sarah Elizabeth Stinnett and attended schools in Rocky Point, Texas. Mr. Stinnett served in the United States Army for three years and trained at Camp Barkley. He was a Private First Class with the 183rd Field Artillery Group serving campaigns in Normandy. Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME Campaign medal with five Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead. He moved to Abilene in 1950 from Stephenville and worked for Martin Linen for 15 years as a truck driver and then worked for Bill Reed as a manger of service stations until his retirement in 1975. Mr. Stinnett was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He was a part time inventor and held several patents with the US. Government. Mr. Stinnett loved watching sporting events such as the Abilene Eagles football and Texas Rangers baseball. He also loved to play bingo and spend time with his family and friends and especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Stinnett is survived by his wife, Carroll of Abilene; one daughter, Cynthia Turner and husband, Bill, of Abilene; five grandchildren, Patricia Snow of Abilene, Amy Lea Shaw and husband, Jacky of Watauga, TX, Tina McCubbins and James McCubbins of Fort worth; and Ray Neil of Wareham, MA; nine great grandchildren, Paul Cypert, Candice, Sarah and Ryan Neil, Robert and Ashley McCubbins, Sherry Reeves, Desarie' and Ben McCubbins; and one great-great-grandchild, Nathan Henault.
Mr. Stinnett was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Lee, Martin, Albert and Marvin Stinnett; and two sisters, Ethel Tolar and Thelma Stinnett; and one grandchild, Teresa Neil. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, 79605.

Rev. Henry Wall, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church [of] Lawton[, Oklahoma], will officiate, assisted by Rev. William H. Wheat, pastor of the Elgin[, Oklahoma] Methodist Church. Burial will be in [the] Fletcher Cemetery under [the] direction of the Dalton Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Hershel Happy Bevers, 88, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. today, March 15, 2013, in Terrace Cemetery in Post with the Rev. Steve McMeans of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock with the Rev. David Brooks officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home in Lubbock. He was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Justiceburg, Texas, to Sam and Demosille (Skipper) Bevers. He married Imogene Hagood on Sept. 29, 1946, in Close City. She preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 2010. He was a member of the Marine Corps, serving in WWII. Happy and Imogene farmed in Garza County for many years. Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Farquhar of Southland, Peggy Young of Midland and Tina Marsh of Hurst; one son, Mark Bevers of Lubbock; two brothers, Sam Bevers of Justiceburg and Herbert Dell Bevers of Marble Falls; one sister, Evelyn Davidson of Stafford, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Haire, on Aug. 29, 1998. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Justin Haire Scholarship Fund at the Architectural Dept. at Texas Tech, or United We Build Fund at Southcrest Baptist Church. Visitation was from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hudman Funeral Home.
