Virgel Manzona "Virge" Howell

Virgel was the third of eight children, born to Marion Jackson Howell and Fannie Hames Howell. He shares a stone with his wife, Mary Exa Wynne Howell, who he married on May 2, 1900 in Anderson Co, TX. Their sons, Roy, Luther, Bill, Dixie and Carson, are also buried in Garden of Memories. Son, Travis, is buried in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA and sons Jack and Herschell, are interred at Earthman Memory Garden Mausoleum in Baytown, TX.
OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Wednesday, 29 May 1968:
Funeral services for Virgel M. Howell, 90, of Rt. 2, Elkhart, who died today, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Preston Dumas and the Rev. Don Shamblin officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Elkhart, with member os Elkhart Masonic Lodge 400 in charge at the graveside.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers at the chapel.
Mr. Howell was born October 6, 1877 near Atlanta, Georgia to the late Marion Jackson Howell and Mrs. Francis (Hames) Howell, and came to Texas at the age of three. A retired farmer and cattleman, he had resided in Elkhart most of his life, and was a member of Elkhart Methodist Church, and Elkhart Masonic Lodge 400. He died Wednesday at 2:52 a.m. in a local nursing home following an illness of four months.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Exa Wynne Howell of Elkhart; eight sons, Roy of Elkhart; Travis of Lake Charles, Louisiana, L.D., A.M., E.H., O.J., H.A. and Carson Howell, all of Baytown; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Lemuel was the oldest of eight children, born to Marion Jackson and Francis "Fannie" Hames Howell. He died at his home in Elkhart and is buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery, next to his parents, Marion and Fannie, and wife, Pink. Lemuel and Pink's graves are marked with a horse's head mounted on a post. Lemuel was a horse trader and the marker was erected by his son, Clyde Howell.

In the passing of Rev. John V. Bilberry, 83, death claimed one of the most loved and most honored of all the old pioneer settlers of Dickens county. Reverend Bilberry has lived a very colorful and interesting life. He began his ministry in Stevens county at the age of about 38. Words cannot express the good works, or the noble deeds of this grand old man of God. For people such as Brother Bilberry, surely this passage of scripture was written - "Well done they good and faithful servant."
Reverend Bilberry passed away at his home in Spur Monday night at 10:05 oclock after an illness of six weeks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 oclock in the First Baptist Church in Spur. Rev. Herman Coe, pastor, assisted by Rev. W.F. Markham, officiated.
Pallbearers were, five grandsons and one nephew, Arthur, Venson, Alvis, E.J.Bilberry Jr. Jack Fulfer and Homer Hill. Interment was made in the family burial plot in the Spur cemetery, under the direction of the Chandler Funeral Home.
John V. Bilberry was born Sept. 10, 1860, in Missouri. He came with his parents to Texas at an early date. He was married to Miss Nancy Ellen Cannon in Lampass, Oct. 20, 1880. Six children were born to this union. With his family he moved to Dickens county in October 1899, and has resided here ever since. And here in Dickens county his children grew to womanhood and manhood.
Reverend Bilberrys ministry began about three years before coming to this county, but he was officially ordained into the ministry in a little one room school house where the town of Jayton now stand. Ever since that day he has been about his Masters business.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Bilberry, two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Ragsdale, Haskell; Mrs. Naomi Everett, Vernon; four sons, L.S., Memphis; E.J.., Spur; Alvin, Jacksboro; Melvin, Midland; one sister and one brother; 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Nancy Ellen Bilbrey Bilberry
Birth: Feb. 27, 1861 Tennessee, USA
Death: Jun. 15, 1942 Spur, Dickens County, Texas, USA
Countys oldest citizens and a West Texas pioneer mother, died at her home in Spur Monday morning, June 15, 1942 after an illness of three weeks following a stroke. Mrs. Bilberry was 81 years, 3 months, and 27 days old at the time of her death.
She was born Nancy Ellen Bilbrey, February 27, 1861, a daughter of Henry and Dellah Cannon Bilbrey. She came with her parents to Texas and to Lampasass County where on October 24th 1880 she was married to J.V. Bilberry. To this union were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy.
Mrs. Bilberry with her husband and children came to the West and to Dickens County in 1889.
At an early age she was converted and joined the Baptist Church and through the years she lived her religion in her daily life. She, as many other Texas pioneer wives and mothers, kept the home fires burning while her husband, a pioneer Baptist preacher, traveled near and far doing the will of his Master.
Funeral services were held from the Spur First Baptist Church, Tuesday, June 18, 1942 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. A.P. Stokes, of Afton, and Bro. Jones, of Haskell, jointly conducted the services. Interment was made in the Spur Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jodie Joplin, J.W. Moore, Walter Smith, Carl Yoes, C.N. Kidd, Alvas Bilberry.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Yoes, Mrs. Elmer James, Mrs. Walter Smith, Ava Nell Bilberry, Edna Edgar, and Marjorie Cole.
Survivors are her husband, J.V. Bilberry, four sons, Rev. L.S. Bilberry, of Memphis. E.J. Bilberry, of Spur; Rev. A. R. Bilberry, of Jacksboro; Melvin Bilberry, of Spur, two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Ragsdale, of Haskell; and Naomi Everett, of Vernon; one sister, Mrs. Dora Henderson, of Spur., four brothers, W.C. Bilbrey, Lingo, NM; Lee Bilbrey, Ricker, TX; eighteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Notes for Caroline Mary GUTHIER

Caroline Mary (Guthier) Constant, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister, and aunt, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Caroline lived in Levittown with her loving husband, Henton 'Jack,' for over 50 years before his death in 2003.
A longtime, active member of the United Christian Church, she also worked at Pomeroy's for many years. She was very proud of her degree from Bucks County Community College and her teaching career at Mercer Children's Center from which she retired in 1998, after winning her battle with breast cancer.
Traveling with Jack and living part-time in the Texas hill country was one of the many joys in her life.
She will be remembered for her love and devotion by her daughters, Cynthia M. DeMaria and her husband, Ted, Lydia J. McGuriman and her husband, George, Rebecca L. Antolino and her husband, Philip and her son, Henton 'Hank' L. Constant and his girlfriend, Robin Barnett. Her grandchildren, Ted and Andrew DeMaria, Lula Jensen, Chris Mamas, Carmine and Angela Antolino, and Jack Constant, will forever miss her love and attention, as will her great-grandchildren, Naudia, Tristan and Kylie DeMaria, and Christian Casey. She also is survived by her beloved brother, Frank Guthier; her sister, Clair McLaughin; a sister-in-law, Pat Adger; a brother-in-law, Bill Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edith Guthier, and her sisters, Edith Buschman and Mildred Stead.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the United Christian Church, 8525 New Falls Road, Levittown, PA 19054. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held privately in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Bio: George Weyman McIntosh of Fletcher, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the age of 91. Weyman was born on December 19, 1928 to George Clyde and Ora Florence (Penland) McIntosh. He attended Elgin High School and later married Maralyn Mae Marple. Maralyn passed away on September 29, 2009. Weyman retired from Meads Bakery and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies. He loved to play softball in his younger years, enjoyed reading and was a licensed pilot.
Weyman is survived by his three brothers, Lynn McIntosh (Sharon) of Oklahoma City, Larry McIntosh (Barbara) of Midland, Texas and Billy McIntosh (Judy) of West Monroe, Louisiana, three children, Charlotte Durham (Ron) of Drummonds, Tennessee, Joan Waters of Pittsburg, Kansas and Larry Newsome (Dana) of Elgin, Oklahoma, two step children, Jeanie Van Swearinggen and Gary Newsome along with ten grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 20 step great grandchildren and 11 step great great grandchildren.
Weyman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara McIntosh Duncan and L.W. Duncan, son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Geneva McInstosh, son, Kevin McInstosh and his step daughter, Cheryl Chaney.
Due to the pandemic, no services will be held at this time.

Biography
Cyril Memorial service for James Henry Liles, 72, Cyril, will be 10:30 am Monday, February 11, 2013, in the Fletcher United Methodist Church with Pastor Laurie Stinnett, Cyril United Methodist Church, officiating.
Mr. Liles died Thursday February 7, 2013 at his home.
Private burial will be in the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Fletcher.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
James Henry was born June 12, 1940 in Seminole, Oklahoma to James Benjamin Franklin and Mary Lucille (Higdon) Liles. He graduated from the Cyril Public Schools and attended Cameron University. He married Shirley Brown on February 12, 1971 in Cyril. He retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority in 1995 after 27 years. Before that he had worked for the grain elevator in Elgin. He was a member of the Cyril United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; a daughter and son in law, Nela & Jimmy Edwards, Tecumseh, Oklahoma; grandson, Brock Cowen, Lawton; two granddaughters, Sarah Cowen, Oklahoma City, and Drew Cowen, Cyril; father in law and mother in law, Bill and Peggy Brown, Cyril; and two cousins, Katy and CC Hardzog, Sterling, and Ike and Lilla Higdon, Fletcher.
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cyril United Methodist Church, 401 S. 5th St., Cyril, OK 73029.
